End point: Sarver Hollow Shelter
miles hiked: 15.9
Hiked early again and got to the shelter and took a nap till Dragonbreath came along. We hiked along Laurel Creek for awhile and took the zip-line across to the Captains house where Treebeard and Dartanyan were hanging out. This guy the Captain was gone so we didn't get to meet him, but he lives right across the creek from the AT (made the zip-line across to his house)and helps out hikers alot, lets them hang out, use the internet, do laundry. We just stayed a few mins and moved on, tough day for me, pretty slow going after that. Keffer Oak was cool, its the 2nd biggest oak on the AT, girth is 18 feet, 3 inches. Sarver Hollow Shelter is .3miles off the trail, downhill, (which means .3 uphill tomorrow morn, whine) and the water source was even farther (bummer). Shelter was full and the tent sites nearby sucked, so I cowboy camped under the covered porch of the shelter. Keffer Oak
